Please don't be an asshole on HN, regardless of how deserving something is of criticism or you feel it is. Comments like this just poison the ecosystem, which makes everything worse. Maybe you don't owe Google better, but you owe this community better if you're participating in it.
Okay, I hear you and will do better. I've been reflecting on the HN guidelines and I truly want to support the community objectives. I will try to stick to more interesting discussion and reign in the hate for astroturf-ey articles such as this.

Google needs to fix its search and rethink the impact of SEO and how it toxifies their results.
A web without effective, arbitrary search and indexing is not a free internet. Our options can not be a choice between SEO optimized word vomit or a corporate walled garden of non-solutions..
No one is better positioned to identify a third way than google. It's their game to lose.
