Ask HN: Pax 3 fails every 2 years

Six years ago I bought two Pax 3s, a month apart. Fairly expensive but 10-year warranty so ok. Every two years, they fail, like clockwork - suddenly start flashing blue diagonal lights and power off. Anyone else have this experience? Am I doing something to cause this?
