Ask HN: Getting started in biology with a CS/data science background

2 points by namelessone ↗ HN
I come from a computer science and data science background, having done my undergrad in this direction. I would like to do my masters in biotechnology, but I have very little knowledge of biology.

Can you recommend me resources that I could study with? Beginner friendly books? Online courses?

I would be really greatful!

Talking to the graduate programs that you are interested in is probably a better place to start.

Since you don't have an academic background you will have to do that anyway.

And if you are admitted to a program, you will need to read what they tell you to read.

Also, you will get a feel for the reality of particular graduate programs and whether or not they will meet your interests and goals.

Good luck.

Hey — MIT has a course on edX on biology for beginners! It looks fascinating.
thats exactly what i was looking for, thanks!
