The moment I saw the headline I knew it was lichtenberg art.

Don't play with high voltage electronics unless you know what you're doing. You'lre not styropyro, you're not big clive :-)

Car batteries don't need to be taken apart because there is no "power supply" inside; the battery _is_ the power supply, albeit low voltage and high current, which is not dangerous by itself from an electrical perspective.

The flyback transformer inside a microwave, on the other hand, will kill you if you so much as look at it wrong.

High voltage kills hobbyists. Once you start taking apart microwaves you better check yourself and make sure you've taken all the steps to learn everything you can about electricity before hand... or maybe just pick a different hobby.

But.... I do need a tesla coil in a lichtenberg burnt wood box. Life is full of difficult decisions.
