At 1:18 he reads the line “the bukovina coach” but skips the word bukovina. Is this sort of reading normal for audio books and such?
Might be the manuscript he’s using. There seems to have been a trend during that era to crop out names, dates, & locations in books. I’ve spotted it in at least “Dracula,” “Frankenstein,” and “Les Miserables,” off the top of my head. Here’s some speculation as to the reason:

I recently listened to Christopher Lee’s reading of Dracula and subsequently followed an enjoyable rabbit hole of watching old Christopher Lee & Peter Cushing horror movies. They are campy from a modern perspective, but are produced quite seriously with excellent acting and practical effects.

There are some fabulous stories about Christopher Lee, and some rather distubing ones.

He witnessed Eugen Weidmann's execution by guillotine – the last public execution performed in France.

He sang a duet with Fabio Lione, lead vocalist of the Italian symphonic power metal band Rhapsody of Fire on the single "The Magic of the Wizard's Dream" from their album Symphony of Enchanted Lands II – The Dark Secret.

There's more ... he was quite a character.
