I think this is a legitimately worthy idea. Companies won't just "go somewhere else" because they want/need to be in the town square to be seen and heard. And if the cost is slight, they probably won't balk at it. In fact, many companies prefer some kind of financial contractual arrangement for various reasons including support and business/legal processes.

Casuals are audience-building.

Identify what elements of the system / platform are in fact saleable vs. which create that saleable prospect is key, and it's something most social media has failed at massively.
