From my perspective as a babyboomer I think things are worse. Some things like poverty have improved but in many ways that's been negated by corporate greed on an unprecedented scale, dishonest and disingenuous politics that's now so bad and unrepresentative that it makes one feel ill just thinking about it - and so on.
I look back at the early optimism of my generation, Woodstock etc., - the end of WWII and later the end of the Vietnam War and the Cold War thinking that my generation wouldn't make those mistakes like our forefathers had done and that we'd make the world a much better place however in many ways we've done an even worse job. In fact, I see my generation as a generation of greedy, spoiled and overindulged brats.
Frankly, I'm profoundly dissolutioned and saddened at how badly my generation has done and I'm pessimistic about the near future. What seemed like an excellent start for my generation has essentially turned out to be a failure for humankind. Our legacy has been pretty terrible, I only hope future generations will learn from our mistakes and will not repeat them.
