Stealing $1.6M from people is not cool, although the article makes it out to be.
1. The people he stole it from did not notice for four months.

2. He eventually turned himself in due to the guilt

3. The court system "struggled" to prosecute him because the bank couldn't be bothered to actually show up.

I wouldn't feel too bad about stealing from a megabank, and it's cool to me.

The article also has:

>> Did you worry you were going to get caught?

> Yeah, I even had dreams about it. One night I had a nightmare that the SWAT team was out the front of the hotel room I was staying in. I remember waking up in a pool of sweat, realizing that it was just a dream

>> So how did the police finally get involved?

> I was seeing a psychiatrist as a result of the guilt and the anxiety. I felt like I needed to talk to someone about it.

That does not sound cool.

FWIW, he got more jail time than when a bank steals $1.6M from people.
