Ask HN: How do you monitor your comments for replies?

I've been on HN for a relatively short time, and have had an account for even lesser time (>1 year). I was curious - how do the veterans, and new(er) users of HackerNews monitor their accounts for comments as there are no "notification" channels?

What I generally do is - keep account->comments tab open and periodically refresh. I'd imagine there are more efficient ways about this though.

I'm sorry, what do you mean by that? By the top bar are you referring to the orange (header) bar?

Ah do you mean you just monitor for changes in your karma? Often people reply without voting though.
