I find it interesting that dental care is treated entirely differently from other kinds of medical care.
Particularly, health insurance seems to be useful (usually it pays most of the bill if you need an expensive procedure) but dental insurance seems to just be a discount plan that gets you half off procedures but the premiums are so high that it seems some adverse selection is going on.
That said I have met many people who tell me that they (and most people) couldn't afford to see the dentist if they didn't have dental insurance.
