What will stop this from going the way of Vanced? (Being forced to shut down via legal threats from google)
There is no copyright infringement of Google's intellectual property here unlike vanced.
Vanced has shutdown? Why am I still receiving updates? Or was this shutdown in the last few weeks?
Was probably like two months ago that it was announced. They said that the current versions should continue to work until Google changes their APIs so much that they break.
Firefox refuses to load
Same, I get a security error on mobile.
Bad Luck Brian - site gets posted to HN, TLS cert expires 5 hours later.
Looks like it's an open source desktop app for viewing YouTube. The link from OP has a bad cert. Here's the GitHub: https://github.com/FreeTubeApp/FreeTube

This is really strange, I am certain that when I submitted this (yesterday evening) I didn't get a browser bad cert warning, yet now I do. I have no idea what happened.

Because unsurprisingly the cert expired on the 12th at 10PM. That's how certificates work.
The app won't install on my 64-bit Windows, it just crashes.
