I'm glad this is "safer" in the proper sense of the word. And not in regulating the behaviour of contributors, which many open source communities seem bent on.
I merely say this because these sort of passive-aggressive remarks are generally not tolerated here. It just doesn't make for very interesting conversation, flamewars aside.

I thought I was being funny, in a wink wink nudge nudge kind of way, i.e. appearing to completely miss the point of a comment injecting the culture wars into an unrelated discussion.

I'm glad to see this. I've gotten to see Google folks working in this area up close in the past year and they've all been dedicated to common problems.
