Is the Internet OK?

From Google search results returning weird Russian porn, to everything being hacked constantly, crypto tanking when this is the exact environment it was supposed to thrive in, to weird online group thought being pushed by bot accounts, wtf is going on?

The Intergalactic Squid arrived in 2014; they've been gathering the reigns of power and preparing for their public advent since then. The destruction of trust in human authorities and institutions is part of the plan; everybody wants to be welcomed as liberators instead of invaders.

Expect the silly shit to keep ratcheting up until "enough people" are ready to embrace the Squid as their new rulers.

Too much caffeine.
Squids seem to belong to the class cephalopods. Coffee comes in 3 classes, arabica, robusta and liberica. The last one is rarely used and autocorrect messes with it.

Using the search terms cephalopod and liberica on Google scholar I only get two results:

[1] A Vernon Harcourt, Rudolph Koenig The Journal of the Society of Arts 25 (1285), 795-806, 1877

and

[2]ROYAL MICROSCOPICAL SOCIETY. DMS WATSON Journal of the Royal Microscopical Society, 1906

Why is things?

What do you do personally to avoid getting hacked? I know for me I take many measures, not going into them here, there are other places for detailing that. But if everyone done all the best practices and defense in depth we wouldn't be in a shitstorm!

Hardware hacks happen all the time, as well as social hacking. There is nothing that can prevent state actors from getting access to corporate networks.
As for crypto I have three words: "The System Worked"
Can ypu expand on this? What system? Taking money from small retail investors?
Markets rejecting crypto.

Somebody who spent $400,000 for a Bored Ape was a blockhead a month ago, a few more weeks of

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/terra-luna-foundation-guard-d...

that person will realize they spent $400,000 on nothing and they will change overnight from an advocate to a hater. People will wake up and realize Kantai Collection and Fate Grand Order are better games than Axie Infinity not least because the first two feature large-chested women whereas the latter has off-brand versions of Kirby that all look the same.

Soon we won't be mocking people who post NFT propaganda because it will be all over.

The Internet was a nice idea but until it's fully decentralized to guarantee there's no censorship it won't realize its actual potential for humanity
Decentralization doesn't stop the people with the most bots from controlling the online narrative.
I don't know, I think decentralization will exacerbate the problem of bad faith actors because you can't do bulk moderation anymore.

If a million people are repeating similar permutations of a 50 Cent Army script on Twitter or Facebook you can use string-distance algorithms to find them and down-mod them at once. If you split those million people up into the fediverse it is significantly more complicated, which reduces the speed you can respond with... and you magnify the efficiency of lying... the “a lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its boots“ problem.
