This is a link to a github repo that literally just contains a handful of pcaps, likely used as examples in the book.

There's no copy of the book here (it's not a "free" book) or anything else of interest.

This has been on the front page all morning, are people just upvoting it without clicking on the link or what?

Yea this is a GitHub repository that is an advertisement to purchase a book.
What's the barrier to entry for publishing a book through Packt?
Very, very, very low. I've never had to ask for refunds until I bought some things from Pakt that were merely repackaged docs from man pages nearly.
Repackaged man pages almost sounds surprisingly high quality for Packt. I've only encountered their content on O'Reilly's learning platform, so I've been lucky enough not to pay for any of it directly, but at this point I've been disappointed enough times that I just don't bother looking at anything they publish.
You can write your name without errors most of the time
Since we're talking about linux and networking: does anybody know an updated book similar (in spirit/approach) to "IPv6 in Practice: A Unixer's Guide to the Next Generation Internet" by Benedikt Stockebrand ?
