I think we can all relate all to well. Even when taking all the precautions in the world, it happens eventually.
I like your little anecdote of Hemingway, and when something like that happens, I always try to think of it as a blessing in desguise, even when it's not about lost work by the way.
Everything bad that happens to me, I try to think of it as me being the protagonist of the story, and this was either an obstacle in my journey, or simply plot armor that the writer gave me to avoid making a fatal mistake.
