I find disabling JavaScript and browsing a paywalled site in a brand new session works some of the time. Most sites use cookies combined with your IP address to determine how much you browsed the site and will lock you out if you try and read more than 3 articles. This is where VPNs and isolated browsing sessions are essential.
Also: you could try uBlacklist[0] to filter out specific sites from Google.
