How does an 18 year old who works at Wendy's come up with the cash to buy his own truck and spend $2K each on rifles?
The Columbine boys used a blow torch on their father's gun lockers to get guns. Made homemade bombs using plans found on the Internet. America Culture breeds sociopaths.
2,000 is really not that much. He lived with his grandparents, had no friends or social life, and Texas has no income tax either. Pretty easy to save a few grand with a couple months of work.
I've seen rumours he bought them on credit. Easy when you have no intention on living long enough to pay it back.
You could get those rifles for like $700 each. So like 2 grand for three. The reported 375 rounds of .223 ammo would be $150 or so.

The truck could be leased or financed. Very possible for a diligent saver.

Truck belonged to his grandmother.

Possible he used her credit card(s) to purchase the firearms.

Please do inform me where those rifles could be had for $700:

Palmetto state armory. Decent quality from what I've heard.

You can even buy the uppers and lowers separately and assemble them yourself for even cheaper.

Smith and Wesson M&P Sport goes for a bit more.

Note: not a firearm owner, so maybe there's additional costs involved that I'm not aware of.
