Tesla purges ‘remote’ from all open jobs; competitors don’t follow (yet) (ev.jobs)

As of today, new jobs are still being listed by Tesla recruiters, but we'll have to see if this remains next week

There are real advantages being able to offer remote work: far wider hiring area, way better chance hiring 2-professional couples, no moving charges, (greatly) reduced real estate expenses, …. For work such as software, which is heavily staffed by introverts, wfh is a wonderful thing. Put the noisy extroverts elsewhere and let them schmooze - everybody wins!

Why would competitors follow Musk’s capriciousness?

Remote work is not a trend, it’s just a consequence of the myriad of technologies enabling it.
