Ask HN: What is a good browser-based game for visceral thrill and excitement?

20 points by themodelplumber ↗ HN
Looking for:

Engaging, in-the-now, sensory: Sound FX, reaction-based, thrill, simulation OK

Not so much: In-your-head stuff, i.e. turn-based, prediction or strategy-building downtime, memory, logic, relationships, attention required to story/sequencing

Thanks for any suggestions!

Any pinball simulator will do. The game is all about lights and action. Though the really good ones aren't built for web.
Pinball's cool, but I'd like one where I can get a few shots off while I wait for the ball to roll downward. ;-)

Is it a Flash-based game? I just see black screens on NG and Kongregate
You can still find webpages that run an HTML version, but they're a bit scuffed. Better would be to use Flashpoint Infinity.
Mobile browser or desktop browser?
Desktop in this case, though I wouldn't complain about adding more mobile browser games to my phone.
I've been helping test https://gasgame.net/ . It's pretty early in development and somewhat unpolished, but it seems you haven't gotten many replies here. Desktop, multiplayer, no mobile support, top-down tank combat game. Wouldn't say thrilling though. No login needed but you can create an account if you want to save your progress. (I really don't like a browser game to require an account before I even try it!)
No this pretty much does it for me, it's a thrill here. lol. Thanks for sharing the link, that's cool. I really liked the autofire by default, great idea. (I feel like I used to play another game that did that, and loved it, but can't remember the game now)
Something like this ? https://poki.com/en/g/blumgi-ball

Should be playable on mobile as well. Poki is an excellent platform for web games and I think Blumgi games could be a good fit to what you are looking for.

Tankwars.io. Steep curve for newbs but in a full room of players is awesome
