Of course there are downsides to Bitcoin not being anonymous. Wealthy people don't tend to like everybody else knowing just how and in which form they're wealthy.

That said, I'm tempted to think that Bitcoin not being anonymous is overall a good thing.

Thinking about the fact that Finland, Norway and Sweden apparently make peoples' tax information public.
