In addition to Apple's A-series and M-series chips, isn't TSMC the only company shipping 5nm and on pace to be the first to ship 3nm chips? And they provide chips to a lot more than just Apple... I'm thinking if this came to pass we it would be the start of a far more profound chip shortage that would make the previous one look like a minor inconvenience.
idk man...if Apple stops producing phones tomorrow morning I can't see it effecting anyone too much. Apple shareholders don't count.
Tell that to your 401k
Pretty sure they supply to Lockheed as well. Wonder how they'd react to such a move.
Samsung and Intel have shipping 5nm equivalents
How naive to think that Taiwan (or the US) wouldn’t “disable” those facilities if threatened with invasion.
Why would a Taiwanese company build a plant in China??
Foxconn is a taiwanese company that builds factories in China. I think generally the answer is cheap labor and supply chain coalescence.
Not sure what he thinks.

The machines that makes those chips isn't produced in Taiwan.

Disable, done. I would think.
