It's coming: "As of 2024, all new handheld mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras, handheld videogame consoles, headphones, headsets, portable speakers, e-readers, keyboards, mice, portable navigation systems, and earbuds will have to be equipped with a USB-C charging port. The deadline for laptops is 2026."

Heh, they don't want to speak about that. Even or especially low price electric devices all seemed to switch to USB3 anyway. Probably because the parts were the cheapest and available in high quantity. What low price electric devices generally don't have is an implementation for voltage negotiation. We will probably see some dead devices because of that.
