Bourdieu has a unique take. He doesn’t explicitly say it, but a large part of his analysis assumes that artists are social (and economic) entrepreneurs.

It’s an interesting take. Combined with his take on the idea of social capital, it becomes an interesting framework for assessing how art works and why it can go off of the proverbial rails on occasion.
