[ 2.6 ms ] story [ 33.4 ms ] thread
Very often I find myself having to make the same searches across multiple websites, so last week I decided to create a tool to make that easier – and that's how I came up with Search Aggregate, the all-in-one search bar.

Any feedback would be appreciated! I also put it up on Product Hunt if you feel like adding an upvote. Cheers!

I cannot get it to search - Chrome on Windows type in query to search bar, press enter, nothing happens no network request gets sent no console logs
It is perfectly fine. It's just that name is misleading. Aggregate would mean that it takes search results from multiple engines and combines them. Btw, I don't know about other browsers but Firefox supports multiple search engines out of the box. You can add new ones from many websites that supports adding and also you can easily search more than one. Just middle-click each one you want.
Wait, so the whole point is to show buttons that I click to redirect to the search page of a search engine?

Not to hate on you personally, but this is pretty useless.

I think the term aggregate ("combining several separate elements") leads to an expectation that the search will return just that. It seems it doesn't.

A change of name would alter expectations for what could be a useful tool. Multiple Search?

I was going to say didn't Dogpile use to to an aggregated search, but it seems it still exists. Not sure I like the look of it.
Flagged for misleading title, this site doesn't provide any search results from lots of different sites, if I read that in title I expect to enter keyword, press enter and see results from lots of different sites, not search box with multiple buttons for different search engines.
At first I thought this was a bit harsh, but they do get commissions:

> Our website contains Affiliate links. This means that, at no additional cost to you, we will earn a commission or credit if you decide to buy any of the products or services connected to an affiliate link. This is one of the ways we pay for maintaining this site.

searx is doing exactly this, has opensearch support so can be added to your browser search bar.
