Broadly though -- this article is generally not wrong, but will also likely prove not super helpful; the correct way to respond to these problems is generally all the things that aren't STEM.
This is why the "humanities" or whatever we're calling them these days are presently FAR more important (and I say that as someone who runs a STEM non-profit.)
Interesting to see that the extra "M" in "STEMM" stands for Medicine. Would this not be included in Science? I'm always interested to hear the motivation to try and add letters to "STEM" (see: "STEAM" vs "STEM" [1])
