One of my parents' cats hated the stuff. They had a small catnip bush in the garden and he wouldn't go near it. Likewise for catnip toys.
He did once, however, find that our neighbours had dropped a 'bloo' disinfectant toilet block on their driveway (presumably it fell out of their shopping bag), which had become soggy in the rain. He rolled on it!
Considering that the cat was a pure white, sleek-haired Persian, he looked quite the punk cat for several months until the blue patches of fur faded or grew out.
Very interesting, I was wondering why my cat was trying to chew my leg when I tried to pet him just after spraying myself with mosquito&tick repellent. It seems he just want me to share some repellent with him !
