Software Trial Periods vs. Software Usage Counters
Just got an email from Autodesk offering a 30 day trial of Fusion 360.
This seems mostly standard for trial periods. Next thing the "your trial has ended" email arrives. Oh well.
How about 30 hours to be used up within 3 to 6 months perhaps with reminder emails to get going. Online banking logs out after 5 minutes of inactivity so perhaps that approach?

[ 2.8 ms ] story [ 13.3 ms ] thread1- A service that feeds on your custom data/integrations: Something like Algolia where you can limit to a usage quota without worrying about time because once onboarded, creating a trashable second free account is a pain (or not possible at all)
2- A service that is stateless or relies on generic data, think currency exchange API. Limiting by time will only cause users to just create an account every $X amount of time to keep using the free-tier.
