Reminder that if data caps were actually to prevent congestion or any other legitimate reason, then having any exemptions would totally defeat the purpose.
Data caps are a scam and I'm surprised nobody calls them out on it. The primary reason for a data cap is to scare you into buying more "data" than you actually use due to increasing the cap afterwards being difficult/impossible (some carriers don't let you increase the cap until your contract runs out, even though as a company they should be delighted to take more of your money if it wasn't for these ulterior motives).
