A story for everybody who thinks pharma just makes drugs that just deal with symptoms. They’ve spent billions. They’d give body parts for something that could deal with symptoms. Huge market, huge unmet need, biological models to attack and candidates that do what the model says is the key.
And nothing. Got to go back to the whiteboards and the lab to come up with a different biological model. Blank paper as it were. Sometimes they get a drug. Sometimes the dog dies and sometimes nothing happens. To use the hitchhikers bit, it’s as if deep throat did all its work and didn’t say anything at all.
