I think there is no official indication that there are permanent side effects but to me it sounds rather unlikely that there are none. You cannot stop your body from growing either, that would be the discovery of the century, and while you can suppress puberty by blocking some hormones produced in your brain, your sexual and other organs probably don't develop normally. At some point they will stop growing forever.
Anabolics were steroids that were used to increase performance in sports since it works similar to testosterone. Here it was the other way around, more hormones got administered, and people did have a very large number of side effects later in their lives and had to pay for it significantly.
I am no doctor but pretty sure that a doctor that flat-out denies the possibilities of such side effects aren't good ones either. Discovering them is a long process, so careless administration of such drugs seems irresponsible. If there is no clause for exclusion for side effects I would seek litigation.
At least as these stories start to surface, this madness will subside.
I've never met anyone over the age of 25 who agrees on the insanity of sterilising children based on what they say they feel like. And no, I am in fact very left leaning and have regular contact with people across the political spectrum.
A 12 year old barely understands the concept of sex and cannot even be entrusted with deciding what to eat for dinner because they're too young and inexperienced.
What happens is that we've let the crazy "activists" steer the appearance of public opinion by sitting back quiet, afraid of being ostracised. No, I'm not homophobic, I'm not racist, I'm not religious, I just want these decisions delayed for when the person is an adult and not a vulnerable dependant adolescent.
