I have thought from the beginning that part of Russia's strategy was to force an economic realignment in which they are not part of the Western order. They may be in good shape in the near future, let's see.
If that was the goal, the war seems a strange way to go about it. Killing several tens of thousands of young ablebodied citizens, ruining your army, sinking your navy's flagship and causing record unemployment in your own country's main manufacturing hub… I am not an economist, but I dare to suggest that a better way to reach that policy goal could be found.
