Ask HN: EC2 Instance Types by CPU Performance?

2 points by notyourday ↗ HN
Does anyone know of/have seen a simple Passmark-like website/graph that simply has graphs of EC2 instances by CPU performance? No handwavy "it is cloud, so it is different" but really brain-dead ball park "this instance is 12x faster than t3.xlarge, this instance is 25x faster than t3.xlarge".

I do not care about micro benchmarks. I do not care about "but but but i/o" i just want to see a reasonable ballpark.

This is similar https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu.

ie. select the instance you care about, then search again and select the one you want to compare against

in this case t3.xlarge vs m5.xlarge.

Thanks. Is there a way to get the list of say top X fastest instances?
Bigger the instance the faster is it.
What is on your Y axis? cost or cpu count?
Ok, I will play.

What is the instance that will compile Linux kernel 100 times in sequence fastest? Not an abstract handwavy "the biggest one" but what is the exact instance?

You'll have to play around :)
