Ask HN: Where can I find open source icons for my apps?

Hey HN,

Short of hiring a designer (I don't have the $$$ at the moment) or learning how to make icons (I've never even used photoshop..), what would you recommend me for finding open source icons?

I'm trying to find suitable icons for broader "topics", such as:

- Nature

- Sports

- Pets

- Arts

Much love, thanks!

Interested in learning what others do. I've been in this same situation and the options are not ideal. My best bet so far is to cobble together some public domain (no attribution) SVGs, lightly adapt as needed, and use them to generate my PNGs, etc.

That's what I did for https://delayedsend.com, for example.

Figma community is a pretty great place to search for icons. They should all be liberally licensed (attribution only) and the benefit is that you can use Figma itself to change them if you need to
