I must admit there's something about this that makes me feel uneasy, same with AI. I think my main concern is that it could in some way contribute to the loss of human autonomy.

Concerns and feelings aside, I've no doubt that computers will contribute to the development of mathematics for the very reason that the amount of work, computation and pattern recognition etc., is likely reaching a scale beyond that of humans - or at least to make progress in a reasonable timeframe.

For example, look at the huge length of time and effort it took for Andrew Wiles to solve Fermat. It seems to me that in the future computers and AI could be enormously helpful with such problems.
