I am a fan. The book is great. You should all read it. I appreciate medical professionals running checklists when loved ones and I step foot in hospitals, and all other attention to quality assurance in medicine.

That said, the surgical safety checklist is sort of the ultimate "evidence-based medicine" slight-of-hand scam - if implementing a checklist program does not reduce surgical complications that would be prevented by following the checklist perfectly every time, then they just weren't doing it right!
