It's not like they actually paid the patients for their data, they expected to make a few millions selling something that costed them nothing, and that they were actually already paid for collecting and storing by the NHS or by the patients.
Besides, do these seven hospitals actually "own" these data ?
I mean, does each hospital own (maybe) the right on only the data related to whatever they did to the patient or - as it seems - these data includes the clinical history of the patient (possibly treated elsewhere)?
