Ask HN: Effects of antidepressants/antianxyolitics on your code output?
Thinking about pursuing medication for some mental issues. I'd like to hear anyone's stories of their medication's effects on coding or other applied tech skills. No specific questions; just looking for things to think about.

[ 290 ms ] story [ 648 ms ] threadI'm not a full on Dev, but I script things and troubleshoot other peoples code some of the time and I really couldn't manage much on the first few medications I tried.
The annoying thing about those medicines is you really cannot tell whether a particular one will work for you, the only option is to take it, wait, up the dose, and if it works without side effects great and if not, gradually come back off. So it takes 3-6months to determine that medicine X is not appropriate and move on to spend the same time on medicine Y.
That said, many people get lucky and start on one that is fine for them. Best of luck.
