JANOG is the Japan NOG (Network Operators Group). NOGs exist worldwide as informal groups for Internet operators to discuss and collaborate on issues like best practices, operational security, DNS root zone operations, industry-wide changes like IPv6, etc.

JANOG sessions are normally in Japanese, but on July 15 they held a special session in English to give non-Japanese speakers an opportunity to learn about Internet issues in Japan and how JANOG operates.
