Why?

Is it because you just hate it that people are having fun with Minecraft and insist that it has to end up like Axie Infinity?

This has nothing to do with Axie Infinity, and nothing to do with changing the core gameplay.

Mitigating the absurd fees and limitations of app store purchases would be one significant win for game publishers and gamers.

Minecraft does not have these limitations though, there is an insane amount of user content and mods outside of the MS store, so why bring them in to argue your crypto narrative?
These issues only apply to in game economies like Minecoin and Minecraft Marketplace, and any game or game engine that aspires for similar UGC marketplaces. The parts of a game that have no economy, like an open source modder community, does not need to adopt any changes to payment processing or asset ownership because there is no payments and assets to begin with.
The modder community is not all open source and there are assets, some of which are not free and already purchased outside the official marketplace.

Again, why are you bringing in Minecraft when you seem to lack relevant info about the community? You're statements have been inaccurate

My post is about Minecoin and Minecraft Marketplace, not the community of modders outside of that who may or may not be exploring their own forms of monetization.

Nothing stops the hypothetical crypto/rollup-based game I mentioned from the same situation: an official crypto based UGC marketplace, and unofficial community modding market that uses whatever payment and revenue mechanism those users prefer (a mix of free/OSS, PayPal, Stripe, and maybe even crypto as well).

PS: It may be worth noting that it is against the EULA to sell mods/skins/merch that infringes on Minecraft IP outside of the official Minecraft Marketplace.
