If I understand it right this guy tried two different ways to register a domain with a blockchain based service. He failed at one of them and succeeded with the other one. It looked crazy expensive to reserve a domain for one year $80 but affordable to reserve for ten years for $120.
They wish they could serve domains like amazon.eth but you have to settle for amazon.eth.link because eth is not a real top level domain. Alternately you could do something to your web browser or computer DNS to make .eth work for you.
