Fascinating, I always thought there was more of it created rather then this little. I do like how they point out the only issues so far seem to be political rather then any real "hard" problems to solve.

Hopeful with more climate focus these we'll have more political will to take such easy actions.

Interesting. Two questions from a person who is relatively ignorant of the facts. So sorry if these are common/stupid questions:

* Why doesn't the US recycle spent fuel to get the most out of it? Are there plans to do so?

* If the spent fuel is kept next to the plant but has radiation for 10k years. But the plant has a lifespan of less than 100 years how do we guarantee that it won't be disturbed in the future? E.g. in case of a nuclear war won't an enemy target nuclear plants to enhance the impact of their warheads?

Fuel recycling takes a newer (read: not ancient) kind of reactor.
