What does OP mean forecasting as an alternative to estimation?

I assume it means saying in a feneral mass what will be done by a certain date, as opposed to estimating a number of tasks, adding them up and assuming they linearly end at a specific date. Small difference but significant.

The small teams aspect was interesting to me, I presume there are also some trade offs with large teams
