I'm pretty sure there are accounting interest groups that don't want easy way to file taxes. It still boggles my mind that somehow I have to calculate how much I owe to the IRS when they can calculate it themselves and just give me the bill (or refund).
Did you do your math right? Because we did. And if you didn't, we'll take you to jail. But we're not going to tell you if you did it right, or what the number is.
Yes, they will tell you what the number is if you ask them. They will send you copies of all the reported income they know about which is all you have to pay on.

This part is tough because in any system with cash involved they dont know.
But for the big chunk of us that effectively are digital currency, they might as well send their estimate, and give you the option to dispute it, correct it, or pay it (with the individual still retaining liability to correctly report) .
