Ask HN: Definitive resources on “Choosing the best data representations”?
This may feel like too basic a question, but it has become not-so-easy to just 'look it up' on the web.
There are thousands of search results if you search this question, but most of them are either:
A) SEO-optmized blog posts with unsatisfying depth
B) Tool-specific answers (e.g. "How do I choose the right Data representations in Python?")
For computer science students today, it very much depends on teachers recommending the right books, which is a rare privilege.
I am deliberately not using the words "Data Structures" here, because I think it is only a part of the answer. In addition to performance, I'm looking for qualities like readability, maintainability, ease of understanding conceptual models.
