I generally like my Tesla and I have the FSD beta program but given how often I need to manually take control of the car I don't see how they can justify $12,000+... even if it worked perfectly, it seems excessive for something that is just marginally more useful than adaptive cruise control on cheaper cars.

It may indeed be cheap compared to the R&D cost but compared to how much people are willing to pay just to not have to turn the steering wheel? That I'm not sure of.

Don’t worry. You’ll be able to rent out your car as a robo-taxi using FSD so it will pay for itself, IIRC.
