I am neither French, nor American, but looking at the Citroen catalogs (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=32297739) I was a bit disappointed. I like European car design in general, but nothing from that era survived the test of time.
On the other hand, I find Fords from the 70s quite good looking. I think these huge boats [1] are simple but quite striking.
