A lot of fuss is made when China's space debris makes landfall, but this event elicited only mild amusement from our mainstream media. The farmer who found it eventually noted that if it had gone and hit anyone, they'd be in trouble.
Something seems a bit negligent about the ad-hoc nature of the entire thing to me.
Likely why China will keep on launching without any heed to outcry from the international community about wayward debris - it's a hell of a double standard.
has anyone done any sentiment analysis on the reporting of space debris incidents? Threat inflation / threat deflation - both poison the quality of discourse on a matter which requires humanity to collaborate
