Definitely a real discussion to have here about the actual long term value of busting your ass at work. I've seen people who were sloppy and didn't work hard but are outgoing and friendly get promoted over hard workers and had managers admit in private that it's to get them off the production line because they're not as strong. I've also seen multiple people burn themselves out by just consistently working too hard unprompted, and nobody wins when that happens, and the business isn't thankful either.
People need to periodically examine their career goals and decide whether they're actually doing the right moves that align with their goals, or just satisfying mental memes they have about what work is supposed to be.
