I hadn't realized that the rampant youtube comment spam out there was being used to scam people this way, most of the comments I see are kind of basic link spam seemingly meant for SEO. Impersonating channel owners to run fake 'giveaways' is pretty nasty since a lot of channels do giveaways as a promotional mechanism.
