The fact that Google's spokeswoman is forced to justify a project like this as critical to the Google DNA is very sad.
I've been clockwork oranged. I don't want to do AI. I don't really want to do anything significant or influence people wrongly. Then I remember that's cowardly and feel a little better. Just imagine Obama quitting if anyone criticized.

Yeah, I've been tormented.

Ya know, though, I think that's the human condition. I think about my Dad sticking with jobs until he got fired cause he had a family.

I had a couple jobs and got assigned impossible tasks, or so I thought. The market place is incredibly refined in all areas, so don't expect to reach cutrting edge easily. Reflecting on this, I decided it's normal to get assigned impossible tasks -- it's never easy to improve the cutting edge.

Can you imagine being a manager and having to find work for people?

Kinda like being a parent with dependents.

I shouldn't complain, but I do get tormented.

It's stupid to talk to the CIA.

God's just, though. People know that. When interrogating they give you good times to balance with the bad cause they don't want a curse settling on them.

God's just. If your existence is about half sunny and half rainy... that's life--don't scream for "justice".

which I believed Him to be? So true, then, was the death of my soul, as that of His flesh seemed to me false; and how true the death of His body, so false was the life of my soul, which did not believe it. And now the fever heightening, I was parting and departing for ever. For had I then parted hence, whither had I departed, but into fire and torments, such as my misdeeds deserved in the truth of Thy appointment? And this she knew not, yet in absence prayed for me. But Thou, everywhere presen

I'd kill for a chance to work on something amazing and have it financed by one of the wealthiest companies on the planet.
This post really doesn't add much to the NYT article (http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=3233201).
It allows MG to reference himself, so that has to be worth something. /s
It is purely a "I knew about this story, just so you know" pissing contest between tech 'journalists'.
That's what MG is all about. Expand stuff from other articles. His Apple posts are expanded versions of Gruber stuff.
We in 3rd world mostly have MG-quality columnnists; they sit lazy at their desk; have a fixed angle to look at life and apply their biased rhetoric to all the emerging news. waste of time i read this.
sounds a bit like a modern bell labs
Sounds like we know not a lot about what they are doing there. For all we know? Foosball.
